New Look

Just a quick post today to say: There’s a new version of WastedFood.com! A friendly designer just completed a long overdue overhaul of the site yesterday.

I’ll be tinkering with a few things here and there, but it’s mostly finished. I’d love your feedback, though. Let me know if you do or don’t like some aspect of the new site.

Thanks, Dahlia! Glad you caught that interview.

    It looks beautiful!

My only criticism is that I am not usually a fan of blogs that post only snippets of the posts on the homepage…I know it makes me way less likely to read them and I know I’m not alone.

Putting a extra click between your readers and your content is not usually a good idea (we readers are a lazy bunch…an extra click is sometimes too much!). Could you change it so that the first few posts display full-length and only the older ones are teasers? That might be a good compromise.

Incidentally, I have your blog on my Google homepage, which means that the post snippets thing won’t affect me…my google link takes me directly to the whole post, so I’m not offering my opinion in a self-serving way! 😉

I second the comment about teasers. If possible, keep the first several posts full text if you do not want to have all of them full text.

    Nice look overall :]

Thanks for the feedback–both positive and constructive. I’ve come around and I agree with Kristen and Neil. We’re gonna change it to display the entire post.

Feel free to chime in if anything else looks especially good or bad.

Yay! That’s definitely better, and I think it’ll help more people read about food waste, which is the ultimate goal here. 🙂
