I had a full house (7 adult guests plus kidlets) so there was no such thing as food waste! The turkey carcass stock was immediately used for turkey mushroom risotto; more turkey, the mashed carrots & parsnips, and some of the mashed potatoes became turkey-tater muffins (2 c turkey, 1 c mashed taters, 1/2 c. cheese, 1 egg, spices, spoon into muffin tins, bake at 350F till hot in the middle); the rest got eaten as is. I think the only food that got so far as the compost pile was clementine peels and onion skins. We also kept for reuse as much gift wrapping as possible and recycled what couldn't be reused (kid do love to tear wrapping paper!), and the ornaments were almost all hand-me-downs. No tinsel!
