It's true that apples sometimes last one or two days on the counter, but only when you buy them from a terrible grocery store.

Dan, nice one--the rock tumbler explains the 1-2 day forecast.

LadyG., Seriously?! What's going on in Cleveland these days?

Jen, sound like you have sound momabilities.

That's funny about the apples. My two year old will drop an apple somewhere in the house/car and come back two days later and pick it up and eat it. That's after it's already spent several days in the basket on the counter in the kitchen. Not sure if that says more about her or my Momabilities but hey, it's at times like that I think about the kids I have seen in Mexico and India eating food far worse than that. She'll be fine.

As someone in Cleveland, how embarrassing! That on top of the embarrassing Indians season so far. Wasted food and wasted leads!

Jon,
I think that if you replace the words "on the counter" with the words "inside a rock tumbler" then perhaps there is some truth in the statement.

Ironically enough, with the habits that most Americans have regarding food storage and use, those precut fruits and veggies have been a great waste reduction method (according to the government study on food waste that you linked in one of your posts last month) because of the convenience factor. All the same, for people who know what to do with a fresh mango, the natural packaging is much better than cutting it up and shoving it in a plastic package.
Peace and Love,
Dan
