Love your blog.
My family has recently started an organinc garden, my kids will have their very own plots to plant what they want and take care of it. I am hoping that it will help to give a new respect for food. Knowing others are going hungry is a painful reality and telling my kids to not throw away a half eatin apple seems to not matter a whole lot. I think when you can just "buy" more its easy to do, I hoping when they see what goes into growing and taking care of a garden it will give them a sense of connection to what they east and a new appreciation for their food.

thanks for this website. when the news of WORLD HUNGER started a few weeks ago and how we have a crisis, i was honestly, BAFFLED. how can there be a food crisis when this country throws away so much food? for an alumni event at cornell university a few years ago, i was part of the wait staff who at the end of every night the event was going on, threw away BAGS and BAGS of clean, uneaten bread. there is something really wrong w this world when there are people actually scavenging land fills to eat and we throw perfectly alright produce.
