I hadn't hit the big grocery store for a while (we mostly stick with our coop or the little ethnic groceries) so I had serious sticker shock a few weeks ago...the frozen pizzas I like went up $2/each, the locally-made frozen tamales $1.50/package.

I don't know how people make do who don't have other options. I joined a cheap cooking LJ group, but foudn I don't have anything to offer - stuff that's cheap for me is cheap because I put it up myself (corn, tomatos, zucchini, kale) so it doesn't translate well into grocery-store meals.

To be honest, the slight increase in the grocery bill hasn't had a huge impact on my behavior - not yet, anyway. Hearing news of food shortages around the world has made a big impression on me. For now, I guess my heart is more sensitive than my wallet. But I think I'm still pretty slow to change my behavior.
