MLK Day

I have a dream. A dream that more school districts will follow the example of Wisconsin’s Rosemount-Apple Valley-Eagen School District. Their composting program makes too much sense not to be emulated.

And while there are certainly larger problems in our country, I hope we see a day ‘when little black boys and black girls will be able to join hands with little white boys and white girls’ as they scrape their remains into a compost bin, not the trash.

Or a day when lunch workers aren’t mandated to give students on the Federal School Lunch Program all portions of a meal, even if the kids don’t want them. But that may be hoping for too much.

Anyway, I hope we all (myself included) get a chance to reflect on Dr. King’s full contribution to America.
