I am researching the subject of food waste and was surprised to find that the Casino's in Canada can donate food. Can you tell me why that is not done in the USA?

Not sure exactly how it works in Canada, but U.S. restaurants are allowed to donate food that has been prepared but not served to customers. Anything that has been placed on a diner's table or served from an open buffet cannot be donated. When in doubt, contact your local Department of Health. Hope that helps, James.
