					<description>This episode angers me, too, but I'm frustrated by the lack of foresight that left those meals in 120 degree trailers for the summer. True, MREs are made to last 3 years, but that's only if they are stored under 80 degrees. 

Once that boneheaded decision to keep the food in hot trailers throughout the Alabama summer, most of those meals had to be tossed. The Post article does note that America's Second Harvest volunteers were salvaging some foods from these overheated meals. 

Incidentally, I just visited the Army lab in Natick, Mass., where they develop all army food. We talked about the limits of MRE storage, so this is fresh in my mind. I'll talk more about the lab in an upcoming post.</description>
